Titular Professor at the Civil Engineering Department of CEFET-MG. Prof. Rodrigues lectures for the undergraduate course on Civil Engineering and for the Master and Doctorate in Civil Engineering. He also coordinates a research group on Sustainable Building Materials being the supervisor of more than 20 undergrads, of 25 master and of 3 doctorate students. Prof Rodrigues has being involved on the coordination and participation of research projects funded either by industry or by the governamental sector. He is member of the Brazilian Association of Non Conventional Materials and Technologies, ABMTENC. Nowadays (2019-2021), Prof. Rodrigues is the vice-President of CEFET-MG. He is also an amateur marathoner and guitar player.

The research activities are focused on cement-based building materials, mainly by an experimental approach. The main topics being: Agricultural wastes as mineral admixtures in portland cement; Cement composites reinforced by cellulose fibres; Mechanics of cement-based composites; Waste management in the building sector; Recycling construction and demolition wastes in cement-based materials; Durability of building materials and components; Autoclaved aerated concrete; Management of Construction and Demolition Wastes.
