SUMMARY:

This issue is is the result of a master's research in Technological Education on the use of analogies in teaching and learning processes of architectural design, developed in the context of a line of research on Educational Practices in Science and Technology, with the aim of understanding how analogies can contribute to the construction of critical and creative autonomy for students of building design. Discussions are presented on the use of analogies either in Architecture or studies of analogous buildings in educational practices. It is assumed that the use of analogies, as a didactic resource for building knowledge and generating new ideas, if correctly used in a systematic way, can give rise to new possibilities for learning and creativity. A teaching methodology with analogies was used as a data collection instrument to structure a didactic intervention. Data were collected in the second half of 2019, in a private higher education institution in Belo Horizonte, through observations, audio and video recordings, in addition to questionnaires and a selected focus group, together with some undergraduate students in Architecture and Urbanism. The results obtained suggest that the use of analogies can be incorporated as an instrument of correspondence, appropriation of knowledge and creative conception in the process of learning architectural projects. It shall be considered that this activity is complementary to the studies of analogous works of architecture. This way, the results lead us to consider that analogy, used as a didactic resource in teaching and designing of architectural projects, contributes to expand project possibilities. In addition, it makes it possible to understand the systematic complexity of the elements involved in preparing a project, as well as allowing students to express themselves creatively.
