SUMMARY:

This research aimed to understand how the concepts of Professional and Technological Education are presented in the dissertations defended in the Master's Degree in Technological Education of CEFET-MG. As a strategy to achieve the general objective of the research, it was sought to expose in which contexts the concepts of Professional and Technological Education are presented in the dissertations, besides identifying the authors and theoretical references used and distinguishing the approaches given to the concepts of Professional Education and Education Technological in the analyzed dissertations. The theoretical and methodological foundation consisted in the concept of concept composed by the triad referent + meaning + signifier, having as categories of analysis the meanings that the term Professional and Technological Education can assume according to the context used. In a qualitative and exploratory approach, the study was developed from the analysis of the dissertations defended in the Master's Degree in Technological Education of CEFET-MG after PPGET assumed the Professional and Technological Education as an area of concentration. Bardin's Content Analysis was used as a method to operationalize the exploration of the research object, as well as the treatment of the collected data. As a result, it was possible to obtain significant findings from the dissertations, which enabled the understanding of PTE as an educational modality, technicist training, comprehensive training of subjects or training for work, revealing the objectives, characteristics and relationships that Professional and Technological Education can present.
