SUMMARY:

This research originated from the following question: since the enactment of the Statute of the Person with Disabilities, what has been the interest of Brazilian researchers on the use of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as a support in the teaching and learning processes of students with learning disabilities? From this concern and to seek understanding about the theme, a bibliographic review on neuroscience, ICT, Assistive Technology (AT) and learning disabilities was carried out. Then, to answer the research question and the proposed objectives, a basic research was carried out, with a qualitative approach, descriptive type, and with the technical procedure of bibliographic research. The methodology of the dissertation was divided into seven steps, which consisted of a bibliographic search in the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) of the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) with the combination of descriptors neuroscience, ICT, AT, learning disabilities and students with learning disabilities. Then, the theses and dissertations found were categorized to allow the identification of learning disabilities, AT used as support for students with learning disabilities and the most effective AT in the teaching and learning process from the point of view of the authors. During the data analysis it was noticed that the research with the combination of descriptors is still discrete in relation to the number of teaching and research institutions in Brazil. The learning disorder of greatest interest to researchers was the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and in direct relation to this fact, the most used AT category was Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) for students with the disorder. Despite not being a learning disorder, visual impairment showed a relevant incidence in the research of interest. This fact occurred due to the characteristics of AT resources that help students with visual impairment, as they can provide support for other disabilities, including learning disorders. The training and/or qualification of teachers was considered important by the researchers for an inclusive educational environment, whether in regular or specialized school, however the neuroscience theme was little explored. In response to the research question it was verified that there was an increase in the publications of theses and dissertations after the enactment of the Statute of the Person with Disabilities, however discreet and negatively influenced in the year 2020 due to the pandemic of COVID -19. Therefore, in order for an inclusive environment to really exist for students with learning disabilities in regular and specialized schools, more research is needed on the relationship between neuroscience, ICT, AT and learning disabilities. Only then can appropriate pedagogical methods be created for the students' deficits and enable proper support from AT through its services and resources.
