SUMMARY:

This dissertation presents as its object of study the elaborations of Anísio Teixeira on professional education and the Anglo-American influences in his writings in the period between 1951 and 1971. The work presents the professional trajectory of Anísio Teixeira, highlighting his main performances in the educational political sphere in Brazil, according to the aforementioned period. The written works, as well as the subjects that Anísio Teixeira dealt with during the period, were categorized by thematic axes, since between 1951 and 1971 he addressed varied subjects related to education. Among the mapped writings, a synthesis was made about the thought of Anísio Teixeira related to professional education and Anglo-American references. The questions that guided the research focused on three points: what are the elaborations on education and work? what are the approaches to professional education and its place in the national education system? and how is the presence of Anglo-American ideas in the composition of the author's thought? The aim of these questions was to analyze the elaborations on school and work, education for work and professional and technical education in Anisian writings from 1951 to 1971, seeking mediations with the pragmatic culture and pedagogy of Anglo-American origins. All material was analyzed from a documentary and bibliographic perspective. Two conceptual bases, from the history of intellectuals and from discourse analysis, were references in the research. Regarding the history of intellectuals, the reference was the Frenchman Jean-François Sirinelli. The discourse analysis references came from Eni Puccinelli Orlandi. Anísio Teixeira, as an intellectual of education, from the perspective of Sirinelli (2003), was a mediator of the educational culture of John Dewey, circulating the ideas of the American philosopher in Brazil in the 1950s and 1960s. The professional political trajectory of Anísio Teixeira analyzed during the research period shows his engagement in public life, which resulted in several political obstacles due to his defense of public schools, of good quality and for everyone. The writings of Anísio Teixeira that were analyzed reveal this notion of public engagement, as his writing was one of the forms of intervention in the educational political debate in the 1950s and 1960s. The texts by Anísio Teixeira published in this period were the materialization of his speech, which was published in several articles in the Revista Brasileira de Estudos Pedagógicos of Inep and later organized and published in the form of books. The results obtained demonstrate that Anísio Teixeira's elaborations on professional education remain in the period from 1951 to 1971, as he continues to defend the integral public school. During this period, he created the Escola Parque, seen as a model to be implemented in the national education system, as it integrated professional training with general culture. The references of his educational ideas are still the United States of America, even though he is a critic of the transformation of Anglo-American society in the imperialist phase, Anísio Teixeira continues to refer to John Dewey's pragmatic pedagogy, which would be the path to the institution of a democratic society in Brazil.
