SUMMARY:

The Professional and Technological Education (PTE) is configured as a crucial means for the construction of paths aiming at regional development. However, it needs to go beyond the limited idea of education only as an instrument of individuals for the labor market, in which it imposes its guidelines. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is characterized as an essential technology to optimize products and services in different areas, improving production processes and the development of other technologies. Active methodologies encompass the use of AI and are defined as activities that seek to insert the student in the context of their learning as the main and fundamental part, participatory with their sensory system, working through kinesthetic, auditory or visual pathways. In this way, the student is no longer an element of passive listening and observation and copying of the teacher, and starts to use his critical reasoning in the study of situations, possibilities, available resources and completion time. The SESI São Paulo (SP) school network is the largest in the system nationwide, comprising 145 schools in a total of 112 municipalities in the state. The focus unit of this study is the SESI 415 Educational Center, located at the Arthur Alvim neighborhood, in São Paulo, which provided (for 995 high school students) in 2017 a virtual platform with AI to complement classroom activities of class. The general objective of the dissertation was to analyze the relevance and possible contributions of Artificial Intelligence in teaching pedagogical practices at EPT SESI 415. This research is qualitative in nature, considering that studies surround the field of human sciences, based on an exploratory study. The participants in this research were the teachers who use AI, as well as the pedagogical coordinator of the course. For data collection a semi-structured interview was used. It was identified that the educational institution's intention to adopt AI was to innovate in teaching processes linked to cutting-edge technology and provide students with a better teaching structure and better preparation for the challenges faced by high school students, such as the Enem. In this context, considering the information obtained by the Pedagogical Coordinator and Teachers, it is identified that the listed relevance was the optimization of the teacher's time in class activities; agility in correcting activities; favoring interaction between teacher and student; the increased interest of the student in the content worked in the classroom and the possibility of improving teaching practice.
