This dissertation is the result of concerns, investigations, readings and discussions about vocational and technical education at the High School level which is offered to people with disabilities. The national scenario of employability of people with disabilities is critical and the numbers reveal that they are totally on the margins of the labor market; occupying very little space in this arena and when they do occupy are mostly basic, elementary, low-paid jobs. The low level of education of people with disabilities has been taken as the cause of this phenomenon due to the fact that 61% of them have no education or only elementary education. Understanding work from an ontological point of view, it has become essential for the inclusion of people with disabilities in society, not simply as a source of income, but linked to feelings and possibilities of taking part in the transformation of oneself and the environment. Therefore, understanding professional and technological education as a proposal for training individuals for life in its various dimensions, placing work as a driving force for social transformations, we sought to investigate if the inclusion of people with disabilities in this perspective occurs and how. For the development of the research, categories such as disability, difference, inclusion, integration and segregation were discussed. Some theoretical and methodological assumptions were assumed, including taken special education in an inclusive perspective. This theoretical standpoint defends that students with disabilities should live and study in regular schools and in common classrooms.  On the same hand the social perspective on disabilities disagrees with the biological and medical perspective on disabilities, and understands that human beings are unique and their interaction with the environment is the main point of analysis. Finally, the methodological choice resorts to the experiences and perceptions of these students who are inserted in the context proposed here, in addition to evaluating documents and information on educational policies aimed at those students with disabilities. The research took place in a school that offers this type of teaching, the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte. The analysis focused on institutional documents, inclusion policies; data on admission, permanence, dropout, graduation and on the perception of students obtained through questionnaires. Participants are EPTNM students with disabilities who joined the institution between 2016 and 2019. The survey results reveal that national inclusion policies are robust and comprehensive, however, the policies and actions of the institution in question are still precarious and discontinued. It was identified that students considered as having graduated, in fact, did not complete the technical qualification part, only regular high school. When analyzing the perceptions of students with disabilities, it was possible to identify that, based on their experiences, they believe the Federal Center for Technological Education in Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG), Campus Belo Horizonte, is not all inclusive, especially based on the relationship established with teachers and their behaviors towards the students. These students had a school trajectory marked by integration and segregation, perspectives that are far from inclusion. It appears, therefore, that students with disabilities have not found in the EPTNM of CEFET-MG, a possibility of training that enables them to work in the area intended.
