SUMMARY:

This study aims to understand, from the perceptions of Science and Mathematics teachers (research participants) of High School Technical Professional Education (HSTPE) at CEFET-MG, whether or not the incorporation the resources of Digital Information Technologies and Communication (DITC) in their pedagogical practices to mediate teaching processes and what are their potentials and/or limitations. This master's thesis is part of the Master's Course in Technological Education at CEFET-MG, in research line IV, whose main theme is Educational Practices and Educational Technologies. The theoretical references used were Lévy (1999); Market (1999); Market et al. (2002, 2006); Tapscott (2010); Moran, Masetto and Behrens (2013); Moran (2015); Santos (2016); Bacich and Moran (2018); Carvalho Neto (2019); Huang; Spector and Yang (2019). The methodology of this investigation is characterized by a qualitative approach, with a bibliographic nature, exploratory nature and a case study. The questionnaire instrument was used to collect data online, applied in March 2021 to 23 high school teachers working in the context of HSTPE . The results indicate that research participants positively perceive the incorporation of DITC resources in pedagogical practices and believe that DITC can contribute to the teaching process. Among some of the potentials pointed out by the teachers is that the DITC make classes more interesting, motivate learning and allow for new experiences; in addition to diversifying teaching, it develops creativity, favors visualization, giving meaning to abstract concepts and increases student participation. Among the limitations mentioned were the lack of time due to work overload, precarious physical infrastructure, poor Internet connection at the institution and the need for investments in teacher training to incorporate DITC resources into their teaching processes; in addition to physical and financial limitations on the part of students. It is concluded that the participants recognize their role as a mediator in the teaching and learning processes and the need for active participation, interaction and cooperation of students so that meaningful learning can take place. It was also found that the institution did not prepare professionals to work in technology-mediated education as education demands for the 21st century demands, nor did they adequately train them to teach classes in Remote Emergency Education (REE) during the COVID Pandemic 19. Despite not having the appropriate time to assimilate knowledge, most teachers realized that the experiences related to the use of DITC resources to mediate classes in the REE were positive. Participants believe that they have experienced new possibilities in practice, but consider that continuous and periodic assessment is necessary to improve methodologies for the use of DITC.
