SUMMARY:

The present research aimed to investigate possible manifestations of tensions between aspects of scientific language and everyday language in textual productions by students of High School Technical Professional Education (EPTNM), in order to contribute to the understanding of the construction and sharing processes meanings in educational practices in Science and Technology. Based on the assumption that learning in Science is inseparable from learning the scientific language, different textual productions of students from one of the integrated technical courses of CEFET-MG (Technician in Chemistry), collected over a teaching period, were analyzed, which show aspects of scientific language manifested in the mode of written expression, in the context of the development of some discipline of a technical-professional character, in coexistence with aspects of everyday language. The research proposed in this dissertation is characterized by a quality-quantitative approach, with the objective of an exploratory study, and was developed in two stages having as a methodological foundation the “Discursive Textual Analysis” by Roque Moraes. The first phase was carried out from the collection of experimental activities in groups, technical reports in groups, resolution of test questions, and laboratory notebooks produced by students who attended the subject "Introduction to Experimental Chemistry" in 2019; the second phase was based on the analysis of these materials. All methodological procedures were performed after approval by the Research Ethics Committee. About the results, among the four materials, analyzed, we could see tensions between everyday language and scientific language in only two materials, namely: experimental activities realized in groups and also technical reports produced in groups. This means that in the materials: laboratory notebooks and resolutions of test questions tensions between scientific and everyday languages were not identified. Understanding how these possible tensions manifest allows us to think about and plan ways of intervention on the teaching and learning processes that occur during discursive interactions between teachers and students in the classroom. The theme is considered pertinent and demands further studies in order to understand the appropriation of scientific language by students of Professional and Technological Education.
