SUMMARY:

This research presents the problem surrounding the relationship between the physical environment and the learning experience of students in vocational and technological education. It is assumed that there is a significance between the physical infrastructure and the academic life of students. In view of this, the following questions arose, which form the set of questions of this research: Is there a physical infrastructure that provides the school to offer its students a quality learning? Does professional education demand a specialized physical infrastructure just for technical training? Or would general education also need this demand? Is it possible to measure the positive aspects that the infrastructure has on student learning? After the change of address, was there a change in the percentages of approval and permanence of students in technical courses? Was it possible to register an active and collaborative participation of the students in the classes? The corpus of this research was restricted to students from CEFET-MG who studied both on the old campus and on the new campus of Contagem and their respective professors. Thus, we seek to analyze the students entering the selective processes of the year 2017 of the Computer, Electronics and Environmental Control courses, as this public experienced and enjoyed both the improvised and precarious structure of the old campus and the new building and all physical infrastructure. provided by the new campus. The general objective was to understand if and how there was interference in the learning process of the Contagem campus students as a result of the change to a new physical infrastructure that was planned and designed to meet the demands of the courses offered by this institution. In this way, we seek to examine whether and in what way (positively or negatively) this relocation impacted the academic life of these students. The understanding of this investigation can favor a reflection of professionals and authorities of CEFET-MG, and of other educational institutions, on possible alternatives for the organization of their educational system, helping in possible reforms and, still, providing an evaluation of the quality and productivity. of the service offered by CEFET-MG to the academic community with regard to its physical infrastructure. The results indicated that the physical environment can indeed interfere in the students' learning process.
