SUMMARY:

This research aims to understand the dynamics of the Sexual Division of Labor in the tourism sector based on the careers of men and women working in travel agency, questioning experiences, inequalities and resistance and coping strategies. We opted for a qualitative approach in this scientific research categorized in an exploratory and critical way as a type of research. Divided into two moments, the first step is to carry out a literature review on the analyzed themes, documentary research to approach the research locus and theoretical research that was triangulated to advance the analysis of technological education as a field of knowledge and, then, the empirical research is carried out from an ethnosociological perspective. For data collection, an online questionnaire was used in the first stage and, in the second stage, a semi-structured interview. The results of the first section present a literature review with theories of the Sexual Division of Labor based on materialism, of French-speaking origin, associated with career theories, discussions of technological education and the world of work in tourism. Concluding the first section, the delimitation of travel agency as a research locus is carried out, the research subjects are defined at the operational level by tour guides, at the administrative level by travel agents and at the managerial level by managers of travel agency companies, as well as the career analysis categories. In the second section, the analysis is carried out in a comparative way between men and women, with the notes grouped into categories, namely: unequal training of workers in travel agency; formation in dialogue with work in travel agency: an integral formation of the subjects?; prospects for future training: construction of a career project; materialization of work relationships: from choosing to staying in tourism; materialization of professional practice: experiences, experiences and work routines in tourism; dynamics of the sexual division of labor: what needs to change? It appears that by highlighting the formative processes in technological education within the same área of activity, we were able to perceive inequalities between the sexes, as far as work relations were concerned, it was perceived that in the choice and professional insertion there is an inequality before the type of formation and the gender, in the professional practice it was found that the daily life of working women has greater challenges than men and in everyday life women have a quantitatively greater responsibility in relation to the care of the house, children and family members that impacts their careers.
