Work, production and education in Adam Smith's theory

This research, presented to the Postgraduate Program in Technological Education of the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais, has as its object of study the thought of the Enlightenment philosopher Adam Smith, inserting itself in the line of research I - Fundamentals of Technique, of Technology and Work within the scope of Technological Education. Through an immanent analysis, goes through the two main works of this author – The Theory of Moral Sentiments and The Wealth of Nations – in order to explain the relationship between work and education, from the conceptions, concepts and categories that support the thought of Smith, aiming to present the importance that Smith gives to technical development, work and education for social development. In this sense, it exposes how Adam Smith thematizes work, the relationship between ethics and division of labor, expanded cooperation in industrial work, the relationship between technical development and social development, the relationship between work and education. Furthermore, it discusses the influences of the liberal doctrine, of which Smith is one of the formulators, in the Brazilian educational context.
