SUMMARY:

This study aims to analyze the policies implemented by stricto sensu Postgraduate Programs in Professional and/or Technological Education in Brazil for monitoring their graduates. Professional and Technological Education has gained significant prominence in Brazil, owing to its crucial role in the country's economic and social development. Consequently, the analysis of monitoring policies for postgraduate courses in this field emerges as a relevant and necessary topic for enhancing the quality of education. To accomplish the stated objectives, a comprehensive literature review was conducted to examine stricto sensu Postgraduate Programs in Professional and/or Technological Education in Brazil that have implemented monitoring policies for graduates and to understand the methods employed for implementation. This survey was conducted by analyzing the websites of the institutions responsible for these programs. The findings reveal that the majority of programs employ some form of graduate monitoring, utilizing questionnaires, interviews, or other data collection methods. Moreover, there is significant variation in the graduate monitoring policies among the analyzed programs. Some institutions have well-structured and comprehensive policies, while others are in the early stages of implementation or have simpler, more specific policies. However, despite the existence of CAPES' evaluation form, it is crucial to reflect on the necessity of reevaluating this tool to ensure that the quantitative aspect of production is not disregarded. Instead, it is essential to develop instruments that comprehensively evaluate the educational products and processes of the programs, taking into account the cultural, social, and humanistic development of the graduates. This broader and integrated approach would provide a more comprehensive and insightful assessment of the quality of education offered by postgraduate programs in Professional and/or Technological Education.
