Society undergoes economic, political, social and technological changes over time that directly impact the world of work. With technological advances, work outside the work environment and mediated by technologies becomes possible. This research sought to understand the work context at a Federal Education Institute and the uses that workers make of themselves in teleworking situations. Through quantitative and qualitative methodology, with documentary analysis and the use of questionnaires and interviews based on the ergological approach, the experience of administrative technical workers in relation to teleworking and the uses that these employees made of themselves in this type of work was carried out. The questionnaire was composed of sociodemographic and professional data and the Work Context Assessment Scale (EACT) from the Inventory on work and risks of illness - (ITRA) was also used. The interview was based on the questionnaire questions and the categorization of the different elements in relation to teleworking presented in the literature review. This research is justified due to the topicality of the topic and the scarcity of scientific works that address teleworking in the Brazilian public service. Furthermore, as this is a growing phenomenon, it is important to understand this type of work considering the new work context far from the organizations' premises. The results found point to the factors of work organization and socio-professional relationships as the most critical. In this new context, employees need to make other uses of themselves, find strategies to deal with the differences they encounter between the in-person and remote work context. While in face-to-face work the time dedicated to tasks and rest are clearly demarcated in teleworking, this is not the case. When teleworking, the server makes use of themselves in order to make more effort to respond to all demands, even outside the working hours agreed in the Management and Performance Program. The use of technology that allows messages and requests to be received at all times further reinforces this situation, which generates an excessive pace of work. Although teleworking brings several advantages to the employee and the institution, some points deserve greater attention from the researched institution.
