SUMMARY:

Currently, public administrators, responsible for urban planning activities, face major challenges in their quest to organize, synthesize and understand massively collected and stored data in cities. Such information is essential for making smarter and more assertive decisions in key areas that have a great impact on the city and on society life. City modeling techniques are extremely useful tools to assist in this process and also contribute to the development of smart and sustainable cities. In this context, this study aims to identify the main urban parameters that can contribute to boosting and disseminating smart and sustainable cities. In this work, a case study will be developed in Belo Horizonte, a city selected due to the intermediate stage of development and consolidation of its systems and devices for collecting and storing urban data. Belo Horizonte represents a suitable setting for the study due to its national relevance and the current stage of construction and consolidation of systems and databases. The research is also very timely, since Brazil is going through the moment of implementation, evaluation and improvement of methods for collecting, storing and processing urban data, in addition to preparing for the structuring of the 5G mobile network, a very important technology for the dissemination of its use. of IoT devices. It is also worth highlighting the process of social transformation and the great changes in the conditions of use and occupation of urban land, which has been accelerating in recent months with the Covid-19 pandemic, and which can be better observed and understood in the data collected and positioned spatially. Thus, the municipal administration data were analyzed using as reference standardized indicators and guidelines established in the ISO 37122 and ISO 37123 standards, as well as in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the UN. The methodology adopted consists of organizing and consolidating information in a CIM (City Information Model) platform based on the QGis geoprocessing software, which provides good results for performing analyzes using georeferenced vector and semantic data. Comparisons were made between the urban indicators and parameters of the various subregions of the city. The data underwent statistical treatment to provide greater representativeness and reliability of the analyzes and conclusions reached. Some regional vulnerabilities, such as geotechnical and flood risks, were also analyzed. After consolidating data and information in a single CIM platform, it was possible to establish cause and effect relationships between certain urban parameters and current public policies. In a broader sense, the conclusions obtained can contribute with suggestions, guidelines and proposals to promote and boost smarter and more sustainable cities in the Brazilian context.
