SUMMARY:

Civil construction, on the one hand, contributes to the country's economic and social growth, but on the other hand, it also generates environmental impacts with great consumption of natural resources and generation of waste. Specifically, demolition waste represents a large part of the mass of solid waste in urban areas. Since the main building guidelines are in the design phase about performance, functionality and sustainability, the objective of this work is to investigate the potential for reducing demolition waste in the design stage and the possibility of this project being developed through BIM technologies. This research starts from the analysis of concepts that can be adopted in the elaboration of the architectural project and construction of buildings that allow the extension of the useful life of the buildings, particularly the Open Building and the Circular Economy. Then, it moves to the deconstruction project (DfD), which inserted in the previous concepts, allows for structuring of the project for building remodelling or dismantling for reconstruction. In addition to reviewing the literature for consolidating concepts, an artefact will be developed through Design Science Research (DSR), which it is intended to ultimately implement DfD within the BIM technology. As a result, a BIM use model for the Project for Deconstruction (Template BIM-DfD) will be generated. In addition, it is expected that this study can contribute to the advancement of research on the reduction of demolition waste through the discussion on the development of flexible projects and the circularity of buildings and their constructive components, aiming at the lowest environmental impact.
