RESUMO:

This thesis has as theme the History textbook in the context of the Programa Nacional do Livro Didático (PNLD), more specifically the view of teachers and students on this material. The research seeks to analyze in the discourse of these subjects which evaluations they make of the use of the History textbook and which experiences are built in the relations of use of this material in the context of the classroom. Moreover, it is also the objective of this work proposal to compare the discourses of these subjects with the Guia in an attempt to understand the similarities and divergences built around the use of this material. Thus, teachers and students from the municipal and state public schools located in the city of Belo Horizonte are being selected. To collect the data, I use field observation as the first procedure, followed by an interview with the teachers and finish with the application of questionnaires to the students. The analysis of all the empirical material collected will be driven by the question that guides this research, that is, to perceive and analyze the discourses that teachers and students build on and from the use of the History textbook based on the linguistic analysis of these subjects, as well, as the comparison of these discourses with those of the guias of the textbook. Therefore, the discourses about the textbook collected through interviews (teachers) and questionnaires (students) will be analyzed from the lexical items and the linguistic constructions present in the speech of these actors in accordance with the analysis proposal presented by Martin and White (2005) and Martin and Rose (2007), Appraisal and Ideation Systems, in a systemic functional language perspective. In Applied Linguistics (MOITA LOPES, 2008) I seek support to understand the discourses built around the History textbook by the actors who give meaning to its existence, trying to understand it in its multiple meanings of uses and the possibility of a vision more critical of the role that this material plays in the daily pedagogical practices of the classroom, without disregarding the social circumstance in which the school is located.
