In this thesis I present three distinct works, such as a research to reveal the real needs of English teachers in the systematic use of “English textbook of the National Textbook Program – PNLD” to teach genres. The second research work task is concerned with teaching critical literacy for high school students, taking for grant the discursive genres presented in English LD. It is also worth mentioning a third work of research that is a collection of sources and websites that deals with “critical literacy” here entitled “thematic webliography”. It is necessary here to mention a third research work, that integrates sources of research about “critical literacy” called here “webliografia temática”. An webliography means source of information for access through the internet. It is necessary to mention here that what makes a diference in a thematic webliography is the sources are careful selected from internet with the main objective of helping students to teaching genres and critical literacy. This thesis also set lights on the “genres in the Sidney School” that taught us about teaching English. The cycles of teaching and learn has to do with Critical literacy’s has also construction and des-construction of something. It is also necessary to say that texts written with meaning behind the lines and about “genres”, such as the ones from Paulo Freire. The questionary to research about English teacher needs was also sent to the Secretary of schools of SEE-Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte and also to the site Plantão Escolar. This website Plantão Escolar is by large accessed by teachers. The research showed that teachers have their needs and students should be aware of those their needs. The research with questionnaires showed that on the age of internet, teachers have their own needs and need keep following the technological and cultural changes in society.
