SUMMARY:

The present investigation is based on approaching the construction of mathematical ideas, in an investigation class exploring algebraic and poetic languages to teach  algebra in elementary school II, in order to produce meaning among the concepts explored in the investigation. Therefore one of the objectives of this work is to verify if and how the students of the Basic Education course experience mathematical ideas, relating algebraic language with poetic language, through a research class. For such verification, there was a script, an interview, that together with the investigative approach, related to the topic “Introduction to the Study of Functions”,  and the class will be held that discusses mathematical research ideas. During the interaction process of the interviewed students, with the research questionnaire, the questions and reflections generated by the proposal among the students will be observed.

During the process of interaction of the interviewed students, with the concrete material, through the proposals of the script, the questions and reflections that the proposal generated among the students were observed. In this research environment, in which algebraic and poetic languages are related in constant use by students, it is verified how mathematical ideas arise. Articulating the information obtained, in the reports prepared by the students, and the observations recorded in a logbook, will be analyzed  according to categories created according to the objectives of the research and the literature consulted, if and how the proposal contributed to the construction of mathematical ideas among the interviewed students.

The analyzes showed a great diversity of strategies that the students used to solve the activity. The production of algebraic meanings was noted for the stages of the research described in the interview / script and, also, how the students sought to signify the contents constructed, through the creation of poems by Aldrávicos, presented in the Analysis of Results chapter.

The development of this research searched for significantly contribute to the teaching-learning practices adopted in the classroom, expanding the outlook of the investigative universe, where the teacher refers to the contents taught in order to place the student at the center of learning. In this continuous walk, the teacher will be able to work on semiotics in various aspects, placing reading as a determining factor for the development of literacy and the social applications of Mathematics, arithmetic, a constant  topic  in the school environment. This environment, where the boiling of ideas is continuous and literature will become a constant partner of the students, enriching the vocabulary and arguments, so necessary for insertion in the social environment where we live.
