FOR AN ALL-FEMINIST ABYA YALA:
what feminist publishers from the Global South are conspiring and practicing
publishers; women; Abya Yala; activism; decolonial feminism
This research presents case studies of eight contemporary publishers with a declaredly feminist editorial project in Abya Yala. From a decolonial feminist perspective, I seek to describe and analyze the trajectories and practices (projects, ways of doing things, publications, challenges and achievements) of women publishers in the editing and publishing of texts of collective interest to women. Two publishers from each of the following countries were selected: Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile for case studies, with semi-structured interviews, conducted virtually, and analysis of the interviews according to Laurence Bardin's Content Analysis method. These countries were chosen due to their strong history of organized women's actions, feminist movements, and due to their geographical and historical proximity. In the light of feminist epistemologies, which criticize hegemonic structures and create new reflections and modes of action, the editor-researcher of this research engages with other Latin American women publishers and understands our projects as feminist activism in the editorial field.
