SPECIFIC DIDACTIVE MATERIAL FOR THE CEFET-MG PEC-PLE: to have or not to have, that is the question
Teaching materials. Portuguese as a foreign language. Interculturality. Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for Foreigners (Celpe-Bras).
In this paper, I discuss the development of teaching materials for the PEC-PLE at CEFET-MG during the 2024 edition. I describe and analyse these materials in order to explain how the proposed activities related to the Celpe-Bras Portuguese language proficiency exam. The main objective of this research was to identify the relevance of specific teaching materials for the course, which is made up of students of different nationalities and with different teaching demands. This investigation showed how teaching materials can ensure the inseparability of language and culture, contributing to the cultural and intercultural development of the subjects involved, in addition to linguistic skills. I situate this work in the field of Applied Linguistics (LA) called critical, transgressive, and undisciplined (Moita Lopes, 2006). To carry out this study, I drew on the views of Social and Critical Literacy (Street, 2014; Soares, 2002), Environment Education (Maher, 2007), Discursive Genres (Bakhtin, 2011) and Post-Method Teaching (Kumaravadivelu, 2001), in addition to the concepts of teaching materials provided by Tomlinson (2006); Almeida Filho (2013a, 2013b), Rangel (2005) and Carvalho (2005). Throughout this work, I also consider the contributions of researchers who address the importance of teaching materials for PLE teaching, such as Bizon and Diniz (2019), Rojo (2013); Mendes (2004, 2012) and Leffa (2008). This is a descriptive documentary study with a qualitative approach. Finally, this research has allowed us to take a fresh look at the teaching materials produced by the PEC-PLE teachers at CEFET-MG, making it possible to recognize these teaching resources as a source for constructing meanings, identities and, above all, as a means for transformation.
