The Discursive Subject in Narratives Mediated by Role-Playing Games

This research project investigates how discursive formations emerging in Roleplaying Games (RPG) influence the constitution of the discursive subject and the production of written narratives by basic education students. Grounded in Discourse Analysis, particularly the works of Eni Orlandi, and in Roland Barthes’ narratology, the study aims to understand how discourses mobilized within the ludic space of RPG resonate in the school environment, reshaping and re-signifying writing practices. The research assumes that RPG, by enabling the experience of discursive roles and the collaborative construction of plots, fosters students’ authorship, critical thinking, and creativity. To this end, school textual productions resulting from RPG sessions will be analyzed in order to identify the activated discursive formations, examine their meaning effects, and reflect on their contribution to innovative pedagogical practices. The study seeks to provide theoretical and methodological support to broaden the understanding of RPG’s role in constituting critical and creative subjects, in line with BNCC guidelines and contemporary educational demands.
