Risk and protection factors: a comparative analysis between Catholic and Spiritism discourses about suicide in training booklets for prevention.
Risk and protective factors against suicide; suicide prevention; Catholicism; Spiritism; Semiolinguistics.
Suicide prevention has recently achieved the status of public policy in Brazil, and Catholicism and Spiritism have invested in the theme, producing materials on prevention and postvention in situations of voluntary death. Thus, the present research has the general objective of comparatively analyzing the religious discourses of Catholicism and Spiritism about suicide in booklets aimed at prevention, produced by the national representatives National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) and Brazilian Spiritist Federation (FEB), respectively, through the Semiolinguistic Discourse Analysis theory of Patrick Charaudeau. The analysis of the corpus is also associated with the perception of Phenomenological-Existential Psychology on suicide, as well as on the risk and protective factors that comprise it and stand out in religious productions. There is also a reference to the concepts of religious/spiritual coping for a better approach to the proposed theme. Preliminary analyses indicate that the Spiritist and Catholic booklets were created with similar purposes but may diverge in the way they guide the target audience on the application of the concepts.
