RESUMO:

This dissertation intends to investigate how the same group of images is used in three works by the filmmakers Karim Aïnouz and Marcelo Gomes, especially in the film Viajo porque preciso, volto porque te amo (2009). From the ideas of the French philosopher Georges Didi-Huberman in his studies of other thinkers, this work analyzes the cracked aspect of the image and its condition of file of memories. Resulting from Northeastern’s sertão filming made by the directors on a trip in 1999, the images are explored from their surviving to time intervals. Its cracked nature is what allows to create new senses with each dis-montage and later re-montage. In that way, the 2009 film can take advantage of the recognition of the images as “reality” documents to reconfigure the memories perceived there, in other words, to fable. The concept of fabulation as a creative act devised by the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze joins the discussions on the montage as a method of knowledge in Didi-Huberman to explain the pervivência of images over time in the works produced by Aïnouz and Gomes.
