SUMMARY:

This dissertation analyzes the discourses of four members of organized supporters' groups – two women and two men – affiliated with two groups occupying distinct positions within the subfield of organized supporters' groups in Belo Horizonte: Galoucura, the hegemonic group associated with Clube Atlético Mineiro, and Avacoelhada, the traditional organized supporters' group of América Futebol Clube, which occupies a secondary position within this social space. The study has two main objectives: to document the memories of members of these groups, thereby contributing to the preservation of narratives absent from institutional memory policies, and to understand, through the lens of Discourse Analysis articulated with sociological concepts, the ways in which these subjects construct self-images (ethos) and collective representations of belonging. The research seeks to answer two central questions: what self-images are projected by members of Galoucura and Avacoelhada – considering gender distinctions – across the thematic axes of violence, gender, and identity affirmation? And to what extent are the socio-discursive imaginaries associated with the clubs – “the people's team,” “the team of grit,” and “the mass-support team” in the case of Atlético, and “the family team” and “the elite team” in the case of América – confirmed, challenged, or re-signified in the discourses of these supporters? The study also examines the role of habitus and the relationships between positions within the subfield and the forms of symbolic capital mobilized by these actors. The findings are further compared with data obtained in previous research on Máfia Azul, the hegemonic organized supporters' group associated with Cruzeiro Esporte Clube. The methodology combines discursive and sociological concepts through the identification of the socio-discursive imaginaries that permeate participants’ statements, the axiological, ideological, and affective markers that shape enunciation, the argumentative strategies employed, the pathemic effects mobilized, and the discursive habitus that configure ways of being and acting within the field of organized supporters' groups. The results reveal self-images characterized by shared traits within each group, yet marked by internal tensions. In Avacoelhada, an ethos of tradition predominates, grounded in values of family and affective belonging, beyond the notion of behavioral elite. In Galoucura, a warrior ethos stands out, linked to memories of struggle and the virile affirmation of supporter identity, although it is challenged by the resistance embodied in a feminist ethos. In comparison with the findings concerning Máfia Azul, the study shows that hegemonic organized supporters' groups mobilize their identities through a logic of struggle, virility, and combative self-affirmation as principles of distinction, whereas Avacoelhada redefines its existence through the lens of affective resistance and historical continuity. These dynamics reveal divergent positions within the subfield, marked by tensions between conservation and transformation, violence and inclusion, hierarchy and the desire for belonging.
