SUMMARY:

The implementation of exclusive bus lane in Brazil's major urban centres has become the object of prioritizing public transport in order to guarantee the improvement of this service based on the users attraction, recovery and/ or loyalty. This is because the individual lanes contributes to the reduction of travel time, maintain reliability, relieve congestion, reduce fuel consumption and others. In this way, this research aims to evaluate the change in performance, year-to-year, of the traffic after the public decision making for implementation of an individual bus lane along a stretch of highway in the city of Belo Horizonte. In order to achieve this goal, it was necessary to establish a theoretical framework that would conceptually support the research on the public decision making processes, the public transportation system of buses and the implementation of exclusive lanes. For the methods, the option followed has been to conduct a quantitative research by descriptive analysis of the data obtained at BHTRANS, as well as simulations of different scenarios. For the future discussion of the results, should analysis of the information obtained.
