SUMMARY:

The aim of this research proposal is to analyze the implementation of management innovations based on behavioral insights in Brazilian organizations. The investigation will employ theoretical concepts and perspectives related to behavioral insights, innovation, management innovation, and the decision-making process for innovation adoption with analyses at the individual, organizational, and innovation levels. For this purpose, a methodological approach of qualitative nature and descriptive objective using the multi-case study method is appointed. The study proposes to investigate Brazilian organizations (both public and private), which incorporated behavioral science insights into their structures, techniques, practices, and management processes. For data collection, documents will be surveyed and analyzed with the goal of investigating the diffusion of behavioral insights in Brazilian organizations and verifying those that have adopted the practice. Subsequently, semi-structured interviews with the key managers and decision makers of such organizations are planned with the objective of obtaining a triangulation of data acquired through interviews and documents. The decision-making process models presented in the literature on the generation, adoption, and diffusion of innovation will serve as a support and aid in the understanding and possible comparison between the processes of behavioral insights incorporation in Brazilian organizations. These models, in conjunction with the collected data, will be used to analyze and identify various stages and determining factors (individual, intra-organizational, and inter-organizational) of decisions to adopt or reject behavioral science-based practices. It is hoped that this research will pave the way for further investigation into the possibilities of using behavioral insights in management, as this line of inquiry may contribute to the understanding and practice of management as it is currently experienced, resulting in a more concise and legitimate bridge between behavioral sciences and management innovation.
