SUMMARY:

This study’s main objective is to understand, from the ergological approach, the tutoring performed by teacher-tutors, considering that tutoring is configured as a pedagogical practice that offers an additional support for students in their trajectory, being able to encompass both spheres – academic and professional. For this, a search for knowing what part of the knowledges – constituted and invested – necessary for the activity was started. Thus, the investigation for this purpose to be achieved, at first, was made by analyzing existing scientific studies that discussed the theme – both conceptual, axiological and praxiological studies – aiming to understand the constituted knowledges in the field of tutoring. At a later time, through field research seeking to know the practice knowledge, data production was carried out with teachers who had just worked on a pilot program as tutors at the IFMG Campus Ibirité, as well as with tutoring programs coordinators, who possessed greater experience related to this work. This is qualitative research iniciative, conducted through a case study, using semi-structured individual interviews. The systematization and analysis of the data produced was based on ergological categories. The results obtained made clear part of the knowledge that is essential for the tutoring practice. The dramatic uses of the self-bodies experienced by tutors in dealing with this work, the renormalization carried out to handle the activity, as well as the pooling of collective knowledge to make the work something feasible are highlighted. In addition, participants pointed to the challenges faced when they came across the lack of previous norms and training. This study contributes to helping managers in decision-making processes related to this type of pedagogical action’s implementation in high school institutions, as well as to the improvement of norms or procedures, since it allowed the necessary knowledge debate to the tutoring practice to be broadened, allowing for considerations that aim to expand the systematization and registration process of this pedagogical practice knowledge.
