Depression and Illness at Work: a case study in a military organization

Depressive disorder or depression, is a disease that can be triggered by several concurrent reasons, however, it has been very common to appear as a mental illness resulting from the exercise of work, being aggravated as the worker does not receive due treatment, which can be configured as an occupational disease. Based on the context presented, the theme of this research deals with depression at work, with the objective of describing and analyzing the occurrence of depression in the work environment, in military personnel who sought medical care at a Military Air Force Organization in Lagoa Santa. It is an important subject to be studied, since the patterns of health-disease that emerged with the global context brought concerns to professionals in different areas, such as psychic and mental illness, often resulting from the exhausting workday, leading to mental illness and triggering depression. In order to reach the proposed objective, the adopted research methodology was the case study in descriptive research strategy. The sample will consist of 195 active professionals from the Lagoa Santa Air Force. The data collection instrument will be the application of the internal questionnaire used by the FAB, which follows the standards and data of the Beck Scale to assess the level of depression in the sample.
