In a world whose borders are increasingly fragile and with fierce competition between nations, it is a central concern of countries to consolidate intellectual protection mechanisms that guarantee the enjoyment of their products and processes, thus generating consequent development economic, technological and social. Since the schools of the Brazilian Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education are institutions that have their operationalization based on stimulating the innovation of processes and products through teaching, research and extension, it is necessary, on the part of the members of their community academic (in particular teachers and students), a certain degree of knowledge of the intellectual protection mechanisms in force in the country, as well as the harmful effects that may result from their lack of knowledge. Bearing this context in mind, the present research work takes as an object of study the intellectual protection processes in force in Brazil, being the central interest of this study: to evaluate the level of knowledge that the academic community of a school in the Brazilian Professional Education Network Scientific and Technological has the intellectual protection mechanisms then in force to, with the data collected, develop an animation that contributes to the expansion of the knowledge that this this target audience presents on the subject in question. Starting from a documentary and bibliographic research on the main regulatory laws of the intellectual protection mechanisms in force in the country and their reverberations in the scope of Professional and Technological Education in Brazil, the investigation proposed here will select, for field study, one of the schools that are part of the Network Brazilian Professional, Scientific and Technological Education for the application of an online data collection instrument that will make it possible to identify the level of knowledge that its academic community - teachers and students - have about the mechanisms of intellectual protection. With the data provided by this instrument, an animation will be developed whose final objective is to contribute to remedy possible gaps / unknowns / conceptual weaknesses indicated by the research subjects, with a view to improving the knowledge of the target audience about this theme so central to development country in the current context.
