SUMMARY:

Environmental Education gains more and more importance due to growing environmental problems. The development of Environmental Education in Vocational and Technological Education is essential, mainly because it seeks to meet local needs and to form critical and environmentally literate citizens. From this perspective, the comprehensive training proposed by Vocational and Technological Education aims to train human beings for life and work, and Environmental Education is an inseparable part of this training, as it seeks to train active and critical subjects. In this sense, Vocational and Technological Education with an educational modality, with a view to preparing for the exercise of professions, can be established in formal and non-formal education spaces. Thus, the development of this study, in the context of Vocational and Technological Education, is confirmed by the need for human and integral training/training of professionals inserted in the world of work in a non-formal learning environment. Based on this, this dissertation study has the general objective of contributing to the process of integral formation in the professional and citizen performance experienced by a group of people acting as environmental counselors. And it has as specific objectives: to study elements related to environmental sustainability; to investigate the environmental perception of environmental counselors, identifying their previous conceptions regarding urban afforestation, contributing to the formation of citizens with a critical reading of the environmental reality; to elaborate an educational product for the praxis of environmental education, which contemplates the theme of urban afforestation, with a view to participatory management and a human and integral formation. In this research, a qualitative approach was chosen, which is conducted within the natural environment and is situated within the context of the participants, allowing a better involvement between the researcher and those involved. For data collection, semi-structured interviews will be conducted, applied individually to the 24 (twenty-four) councilors, among members and alternates, of the Municipal Council for the Defense and Conservation of the Environment - CODEMA in the municipality of Luz/MG. This research seeks to develop, as an educational product, a Workshop on Urban Afforestation, as a pedagogical strategy for professional training and citizen training of CODEMA. The application of this educational product in Vocational and Technological Education is justified in the search for promoting the formation of values and attitudes necessary for the development of environmentally sustainable solutions, constituting a support material to subsidize environmental education actions in the context of urban afforestation
