SUMMARY:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects communication, cognition, learning, and social interactions. In Brazil, it is estimated that there are about 4.84 million people with this disorder. Driven by the Brazilian Law for Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities and the reserved spots in federal educational institutions, the enrollment of students with ASD in Vocational and Technological Education (VTE) is already a growing reality. However, it is necessary to prepare educational institutions to receive these students, not only in compliance with the legislation but also by structuring the learning environment and providing training to all involved. In this context, smart cities emerge as an opportunity to promote inclusion in the educational environment by using information and communication technologies to improve resources and provide efficient services. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, the Brazilian Charter of Smart Cities aims to promote sustainable urban development and digital transformation with social inclusion and reduction of inequalities. Bringing this concept to VTE, the term Smart Campus arises, which seeks to improve the quality of life for students and the academic community by providing a more efficient and inclusive learning environment. This goes beyond the mere use of technologies and includes infrastructure, cultural and functional aspects of the institution, as well as the needs of its users. Therefore, it is necessary to question whether VTE is truly prepared for the inclusion of students with ASD and how the use of intelligent technologies on a campus can contribute to this goal. Relevant inquiries should be made to ensure that students with ASD have equal access to vocational education and truly feel included in the educational environment of the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais - Bambuí Campus. With the aim of conducting a diagnosis through interviews with members of NAPNEE and documentary analysis, an educational product will be presented as a strategic planning proposal focused on overcoming the inclusion barriers faced by these students.
