SUMMARY:

The manufacturing process of sanitary ceramics leads to the generation of industrial waste with different characteristics, obtained as a function of the processing steps in which they are generated and the products manufactured. In this segment, the main residues obtained are: raw material residues, finished products out of specification and sludge from water treatment, cleaning operations and enamel application steps. The composition of these residues is similar to raw materials. Thus, several works have been developed in order to value materials of this nature. It is believed that they can be used as a supplementary raw material in the production of civil construction tools. Therefore, the objective of this work was to study the potential for reusing the solid waste accumulated in the settling pond of a company that manufactures sanitary ceramics located in the Minas triangle. For this, samples of all raw materials were collected, as well as solid waste. The chemical and physical characterization of the samples and of the residue, evaluated its pozzolanic activity. Based on ABNT standards, specimens will be made with partial replacement of cement, in mass, to represent the same volume of cement per residue, and with these specimens tests such as resistance to compression, modulus of rupture to flexion, will be carried out, loss to fire, linear shrinkage, pyroplastic deformation, water absorption
