SUMMARY:

Aiming to integrate sustainable mineral production with the need to improve the infrastructure of the Brazilian road system, this work will be developed to evaluate the use of Magnetite waste (obtained after industrial ore processing) as a material for reinforcing pavement subgrades in comparison to the useof gravel.The research will be divided into three stages.The first stage will consist of collecting, preparing and characterizing the materials to be used.The soil that will be used in the subgrade layer of the site to be paved will be collected through hilf tests and trench opening and in this, tests will be carried out to fully characterize the material, California Support Index and Expansivity Percentage.The magnetite will be collected, prepared, packaged and delivered by the company responsible for its production, along with its particle size characterization and chemical composition.The crushed stone will be obtained from commercial deposits close to the soil collection region and there, particle size characterization tests will be carried out on the material.The second stage will consist of adding 5%, 10% and 15% of crushed material and Magnetite waste to the collected soil, and subsequently carrying out tests in the laboratory, of the California Support Index and Percentage of Expansivity, through the molding of bodies oflaboratory test, to obtain parameters for improving the characteristics of this soil for paving.In the third and final stage, the data obtained will be compiled and the results obtained will be evaluated.
