SUMMARY:

Algae biomass produced in photobioreactors appears as an alternative for the production of biofuels. Photobioreactors, despite having significant productivity, have problems in their temperature control that increases the costs of this system. Given this limitation, the solution found was to integrate algae photobioreactors in building facades, so that the excess heat generated by the system could be used by the building's heating system. With that, both systems would benefit. Although promising, the proposal to integrate photobioreactors in building facades is recent and there are few projects involving this technology. Given this context, the present work aims to evaluate the thermoenergetic behavior of algae photobioreactors in a typical commercial building facade in a Brazilian metropolis from two points of view: 1. Capacity of these systems to function as a passive acclimatization system; 2. Calculation of energy balance in the system to analyze its temperature pattern. In this way, from the elaboration of a thermo-energetic model of a commercial building located in Belo Horizonte - MG, together with the construction, use and occupation data, a thermo-energetic simulation of the typology of the reference building was carried out. As partial results, it was obtained the calibration of the thermoenergetic model of the building through its energy consumption. It is expected to evaluate the capacity of this system to passively reduce the energy consumption of the building and to know its thermoenergetic behavior for biomass production in the Brazilian context.
