SUMMARY:

With the increase in energy consumption and the impacts of global warming, it is necessary to increase investment in energy systems from renewable resources. A promising option is green hydrogen, because in addition to the application in energy storage, allowing continuous generation and stability for the electrical system, there is the possibility of exporting renewable hydrogen, aiming at application in several sectors in which decarbonization becomes difficult, such as transport and industry. Thus, electrolysis from renewable energy can play an important role in the production of green hydrogen. However, despite the hydrogen economy showing promise, doubts are raised, especially in relation to the consumption of potable water for electrolysis and its impact on water scarcity. Thus, producing hydrogen using seawater could reduce freshwater consumption, especially in areas where water availability is limited. Thus, the present work will consist in determining the technical and economic feasibility o producing green hydrogen from desalinated water using solar and wind energy sources.
