The supply of electrical energy is vital for the progress of society, and energy distribution companies are responsible for offering this service with quality, safety and continuously. Therefore, detecting faults in the energy distribution network plays a crucial role in improving this service. In this context, this research aligns with this proposal by investigating a new method for identifying faults in the electrical energy distribution network, using existing data from the low voltage distribution network, provided by the Public Lighting Telemanagement system, and the medium voltage distribution network, arising from the status of the concessionaire's protection system. Such data will be integrated into a relational database, together with the topology of the studied feeder. The methodology will be based on the development of an expert system, with the definition of heuristic rules for the faults to be identified and an algorithm to traverse the database in a radial manner, identifying whether any rule defined in the knowledge base has been activated, reporting inform the user of the fault, the equipment involved and its location.
