Starting from the appreciation of the poetic production of Manoel de Barros, the work in development seeks to make a reading and reflect on the themes of silence, image and useless as a form of a thinking literature in the Manoel’s work. For this, we aim to develop an association between such elements starting from the idea of silence present in Maurice Blanchot's O espaço literário, O som e o sentido of Miguel Wisnik and O ouvido pensante and A afinação do mundo in R. Murray Schafer. Furthermore, to analyze the image in the Manoel’s poetic approaching it with the theory of the art historian Didi-huberman in the books O que vemos, O que nos olha, Diante da imagem and Falenas: ensaios de aparição, 2. Finally, search One can also approach the attentive gaze of Palomar, of Italo Calvino, with the gaze of Manoel de Barros, especially with regard to the useless, which is also sought in David Lapoujade's Existências mínimas and the aforementioned Didi-huberman in Ninfa Moderna – ensaios de planejamento caído. Thus, having this objective as a driver of the work, we will seek to analyze how the elements mentioned are present in the work of Manoel de Barros. In order to better contemplate them, several fragments of the poet's work were selected, which are highlighted throughout the work. We will use, in particular, the aforementioned writers and theorists and verify the presence of such elements in the work of Manoel de Barros.
