O Processo Criativo da Coreografia do Espetáculo Terra Brasilis da Companhia de Dança Movimento
Choreography “Terra Brasilis”; Genetic Criticism; Criticism Process; Contemporary Dance; Semiotics.
The literary work “Terra Brasilis” (1999), written by journalist and writer Rogério Zola Santiago, in a poignant narrative, questions the adaptations imposed upon the Brazilian immigrant when confronted with the overwhelming reality of another culture, which embraces values different from his own. This theme inspired the Companhia de Dança Movimento, from Belo Horizonte, directed by the author of this research work, to create a homonymous spectacle. The present research has the purpose of evidencing the process of creation of contemporary dance choreography of the spectacle “Terra Brasilis”, also in the same year, through genetic criticism and of the process criticism. In a comparative approach, we analyzed the drafts containing the marks of the artistic construction process and the images taken from the video recording made during the opening night that took place at Teatro Alterosa, in Belo Horizonte. A reading of the artistic production process and the transcreation of the libretto for the contemporary dance choreography of the performance was made and the elements were also analyzed from the standpoint of Semiotics. This discussion was amplified by the interweaving of the poetic languages of literature, music and theater with the choreography of “Terra Brasilis”, considered in the creative process.
