LILITH'S AWEKENING: THE FEMALE MONSTER IN THE MONICA DEMES CONTEMPORARY CINEMA
Lilith; Monica Demes; feminine; monster; Brazilian cinema
This dissertation proposes to analyze how the myth of Lilith, extensively known in the
literary framework, is represented in the film Lilith's Awekening (2016), from the Brazilian
director Monica Demes. Aspects such as photography, dream structure and the development curve of the character in the plot are going to be analyzed, considering the question of the horror genre and the concept of monstrous, considering the concern of the valorization of a cinema made by women, still little discussed in the academy. The work also deals with the fascination caused by the vampire figure from the female body in fiction and the traces of surrealism in the film, from the plot and aesthetic aspects.
