RESUMO:

This study explores the treatment of the lexicon in Portuguese textbooks as
foreign language (PLE). The paper discusses the relevance of the lexicon for the development of
communicative skills and social practices during the teaching and learning process of
target language. The purpose of this research is to analyze and discuss the explicit lexical approach in books
(LD) PLE. It seeks to demarcate the different forms of exploration of the lexicon and
present a compilation of collection task analysis subcategories, as intended
didactic of each of them. This categorization aims at the legitimation of a frame of reference that
serve as an aid to teachers, textbook makers and researchers in the analysis
and promotion of pedagogical activities related to lexical entries. This study signals
also the need to associate lexical exploitation with teaching approaches and skills
communicative skills as well as to observe the purposes of activities related to language
explicit lexical approach to better understand how to use them
in foreign language (LE) classes.
