POP SCIENCE: Scientific dissemination in audiovisual format on YouTube from the perspective of Systemic Functional Linguistics and Visual Design Grammar
Social semiotics. Visual grammar. Scientific dissemination. Youtube.
This project has as its theme the use of audiovisual resources in scientific dissemination in the context of the prevalence of social networks and digital platforms. Starting points are the idea that new formats have been transforming the once privileged space of writing (FLUSSER, 2010) and the approach proposed by authors such as Jenkins (2009) regarding the configurations of the communication culture of contemporary society. In this scenario, we seek to analyze the role that the audiovisual format has assumed in the scientific dissemination genre, through the analysis of two YouTube channels based on Functional Systemic Linguistics (Halliday, 1994) and on the Grammar of Visual Design (Kress and van Leewven, 1996). It is hoped, with this study, to identify elements that contribute to the popularity of these channels and shed light on the possibilities that open up for the genre in question.
