RESUMO:

This study conducts a comparative analysis of energy, exergy, and environmental impact for different configurations of a direct expansion solar-assisted heat pump (DX-SAHP) cycle, utilizing carbon dioxide (CO2) as the working fluid. Three configurations were analyzed: a basic cycle, a dual expansion cycle, and a cycle with an internal heat exchanger. The integration of solar energy has been demonstrated to reduce compressor electricity consumption by increasing energy input to the evaporator, thereby enhancing system efficiency. Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is regarded as a potential refrigerant due to its non-existence of Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and its low Global Warming Potential (GWP). To this end, a parameterized mathematical model was employed in conjunction with experimental data to assess the performance of each configuration. The findings of the study indicated that the basic cycle exhibited slightly higher energy efficiency (COP), while the dual expansion cycle demonstrated superior exergy efficiency and ecological performance (ECOP), facilitated by effective superheat control.
