  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The Division Algorithm is often considered by students to be a complex subject. As a teacher, I met with students who were lacking in this content in all grades of Elementary and High School. In this work, we will deepen the theme, investigating how the division has been approached in textbooks available in public and private schools in Minas Gerais. We will also analyze the alternative suggestions present in PROFMAT’s theses and we will also present a diagnostic test created to understand the doubts and gaps of the students. Finally, we will study some theories about the construction of knowledge and the use of concrete material and games as a teaching methodology to propose ludic activities that can contribute to the approach of this content.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The following dissertation aims to discuss mathematical concepts which are limits and continuity, derivates, dinamical systems and chaos, to debate mathematical uncertainties and inaccuracies and then bring them into basic education. Inaccuracies and uncertainties often remain obscured and unjustified to students who frequently make approximations and roundings without understanding why they do so. Therefore, we will deliberately lead them to this reflection by suggesting activities and guiding them in a science fair. Since we directly address the concept of a function, we have decided that the appropriate stage within basic education for this work will be high school.

  • This thesis is a literature review that seeks to connect topics in the History of Mathematics with Spatial Geometry of geometric solids. Therefore, as part of the literature study, we begin by presenting a literature review on the productions of PROFMAT in Spatial Geometry and the History of Mathematics. We also conduct a study on Book XI of Euclid’s work The Elements, by Euclid of Alexandria (c. 300 BCE), from the perspective of two translations: the English version by Henry Billingsley in 1570 and the Brazilian translation by Irineu Bicudo in 2009. We briefly discuss the context of mathematics and sciences during the period in which Euclid possibly lived in the Ancient Age and Billingsley in the European Renaissance. We consider how the support of concrete material can aid in visualizing three-dimensional objects. We provide a brief history of pop-up books (paper elements that pop out of the book when turning the page) and propose a guide for constructing the ten main geometric solids using this resource, as defined in Book XI of Euclid in Billingsley’s version. The construction of these objects is done with ruler and compass, instruments widely used in the mathematics of Euclid’s time and revived during Billingsley’s period. At the end of the construction of each solid, we list some motivating questions to guide the discussion about the elements of each figure.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) highlights the significance of algorithms in fostering Computational Thinking among students in Basic Education while emphasizing their potential as study subjects within Mathematics classes. Two specific skills outlined in the BNCC for High School education are directly linked to Computational Thinking: EM13MAT315, which involves investigating algorithms to solve problems, and EM13MAT405, which focuses on utilizing basic concepts of a programming language for algorithm implementation. Among the various possibilities for incorporating these skills, Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) stand out. EAs employ techniques inspired by biological evolution to solve optimization problems. Despite being a frequently discussed topic in PROFMAT dissertations, the use of EAs remains relatively unexplored. This dissertation addresses theoretical aspects of optimization and EAs while also providing a literature review. The primary contribution of this work is an educational product that employs EAs to solve optimization problems across different contexts. The product uses Python and adopts a pedagogical approach that integrates Computational Thinking and gamification. The proposed educational product includes an EA competition inspired by Programming Contests focused on Genetic Algorithms (GA) and Differential Evolution (DE). The competition aims to enhance participants’ problem-solving solutions by developing variations of GA and DE algorithms to achieve solutions that increasingly approximate the optimal solution. The results obtained with a performed simulation are analyzed and discussed. Solving optimization problems with EAs demonstrates a remarkable potential for fostering Computational Thinking among students in Secondary School. This material equips teachers with a solid theoretical foundation and provides effortless access to pre-implemented code snippets, simplifying replication.

  • This thesis starts with the observation the challenge teachers face in attracting attention to their students. In Math, in whice there is normally greater resistence and difficulty by the students, this challenge is particularmente manifested in more abstract contents such as the study of polynomials. One solution to this stand-off is to create strategies that make classes more dynamic and engaging for students. Drawing on scholars such as Piaget, Vygotsky, Grando, and Lara, one strategy implemented was the use of games in the classroom, which generates greater interest from students and fosters learning that goes beyond the subject itself, developing logical thinking, teamwork, and strategy creation. We chose to work with the game of Checkers, which has simple rules and requires strategic thinking. A parallel was drawn between the game of Checkers and polynomials, emphasizing that both can be approached by to achieve goals through rules through rules. Taking these aspects into consideration, the product created was the game "Polidamas" (or PolyCheckers), which combines the joint of polynomials and the game of Checkers, reinforcing polynomial concepts and operations. Additionally, a Didactic Sequence was developed, including the study of polynomials and the application of the game "Polidamas" in the classroom. In conclusion, this study contributes to the teaching of polynomials and can be used by teachers as a foundation for instruction and classroom implementation.

  • The research, whose problem is to understand how financial mathematics combined with critical mathematics education, can promote financial education to students in the 3rd year of high school? The theoretical approach, the elaboration and application of a didactic sequence, made it possible to investigate the contributions of the integration of these contents in the financial and mathematical sphere. Bearing in mind that critical mathematical education educates citizens, through dialogue and real situations, mathematical questions can be problematized in connection with reality, where students can recognize them in their daily lives and thus question and consider different perspectives and approaches to problem solving. In this context, developing the concepts of financial mathematics from a critical perspective can promote understanding of the content, contribute to financial literacy, helping to manage finances consciously. School financial education seeks to stimulate understanding of finances,
make decisions and critically analyze financial situations. The didactic sequence designed for 3rd year high school students seeks to identify the potential of this study, promote financial education, raise awareness about the influence of interest on financial life, the importance of using credit wisely and avoiding excessive debt, understanding the importance of planning and monitoring the family financial budget, saving and managing your finances well. The application of the activities reveals the students' interest in improving their knowledge in this
area, as well as their low level of financial knowledge, confirming the importance of school financial education combined with financial mathematics.

  • Trigonometry and its functions are fundamental not only in Mathematics, but also play an essential role in the study of periodic physical characteristics, mechanics, astronomy, music, topography, engineering and other areas. In this context, this project seeks to support teachers in their approach to Trigonometry topics, taking into account the guidelines of the National Common Curriculum Base (BNCC) and the integration of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICTs) in Mathematics Teaching. The project offers teachers full support in practicing these concepts. Throughout this work, teachers will find support for the use of various Active Methodologies, as well as a detailed study of the possibilities offered by works already published on the ProfMat website. In addition, the project has a solid theoretical basis capable of fully supporting teachers who seek this support. The development of the project is exploratory in nature, with a direct approach to the object of research, involving a study of the trigonometry content presented in the BNCC and the construction of didactic sequences for each of these contents. As a result, the project presents an educational product accessible via a link available in the work. This product includes the practical application of one of the activity sequences, which is part of GeoGebrabook. In addition, the final considerations cover not only the entire development of the dissertation, but also highlight the possibilities for applying the material and the openness to continuing the project. The overall aim of this research is to propose an educational product, GeoGebrabook, in order to provide both the teacher and the student with complete material for the study of Trigonometry and Trigonometric Functions, based on Active Methodologies, Critical Mathematics Education and Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICTs), through applets, which enable more dynamic learning, making the student the main part of the teaching and learning process, while the teacher plays the role of mediator in this educational context.

  • This work aims to present a booklet aimed at high school students and teachers interested in discussions involving mathematical infinity in the classroom. In order to support our project, we first carried out an analysis of the skills proposed by the BNCC in order to identify how this document addresses the infinite theme. Subsequently, a survey was carried out on how this subject is worked on in the final grades of elementary and high school, through the evaluation of two collections of mathematics textbooks. Then, we also analyzed some dissertations focused on teaching mathematics and that address the concept of infinity in the classroom. The objective of this last analysis was to map the proposals and initiatives that are being developed by researchers around this theme. During the execution of this work, we noticed an existing gap between the way and the incidence in which this theme is worked on in basic education textbooks and the availability of sources and materials that aim to provide a formalized and technical treatment regarding this subject. Therefore, the central proposal of this project is to contribute to improving the quality of the teaching-learning process in basic education by providing didactic material capable of serving as a subsidy to encourage discussions and enrich debates related to the mathematical infinite in the classroom.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • In this dissertation we present a research whose main objective was to develop an educational product that had as its prerogative the use of Digital Technologies as a resource for Teaching Mathematics. To base ourselves theoretically, we reviewed the literature on the use of technologies in the context of Education, from a historical, political and practical perspective, until we arrived at the use of technologies in the context of Teaching Mathematics, the focus of our research. Based on our reference, we decided to work with material that had already been produced, available and intended for Teaching High School Mathematics so that, based on this material, we could propose improvements based on the use of technologies. The material chosen was made available free of charge by the Working Group of Mathematics teachers of the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais, GTMAT, through a website. After an analysis of this material, using as a reference some of the criteria for evaluating digital teaching material proposed by Godoi and Padovani, we developed interactive quizzes using the Kahoot application, in order to improve what was already available, from a perspective of student use. and the teacher. From this improvement, we developed an educational product for use by teachers who want to make use of quizzes in learning situations, either by reproducing or adapting the material for the context of their classes. In addition, we hope to be able to continue our work on improving the GTMAT material, contributing to the site dialoguing with technologies that are increasingly inserted in the context of teaching in general.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The present work discusses the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the construction of didactic sequences for the teaching of linear functions in 1st year high school classes in Brazil, under the guidelines of the National Common Core (BNCC) and the New High School Law (13.415/2017). Initially, a study of the historical development of the function concept was carried out, intending to clarify its scope, and consequently the difficulties presented in its teaching-learning process, as well as its importance in applications of everyday situations. Then, there is a brief presentation of the BNCC teaching guidelines, competence 4, skill (EM13MAT501), in Mathematics teaching and its technologies, as well as a discussion about the potentials and difficulties presented in the implementation of ICT in education. We present, the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML), and the principles proposed by Mayer (2009) apud Barros (2013) to be observed in the construction of activities supported by multimedia resources. The text also delves into the analysis of a didactic sequence, developed for this study, which uses the GeoGebra software, applied to the 1st year of High School, leading to the following observations:: the use of ICT is welcome in teaching mathematics in high school, but it is necessary to be theoretically grounded in order to guarantee the desired results, that is, it is noticed that, in the course of the didactic sequence, adjustments may be necessary, which requires constant attention and care from the teacher.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • With RSA Cryptography as background, we present, generally speaking, the mathematical theory that underlies that encryption model, as well as its contextualization as part of the modern way of life and its security, and then proposes a product for Basic Education (BE). For this, we show the Brazilian National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC) view about the use of technologies in the mathematics teaching in addition to possibilities for the use of calculators in Elementary School (ES) classes. Before, however, basic elements of Modular Arithmetic are presented, building the mathematical model that supports RSA Cryptography - in addition to the totient function, as an additional topic. Thus, guided by the question “Is it possible to bring the RSA Cryptography theme to the Basic Education classroom?” our goal is to createactivities in which, from the use of technologies, modular arithmetic concepts are addressed, leading students to understand the RSA Encryption method. As a result, we present the final product, aimed at Basic Education, consisting of a proposal for didactic sequence for the 6th year of Elementary School, which aims to introduce the concept of primality using calculators, and two proposals for classes for the High School, approaching the calculation of residual powers through Modular Arithmetic, sometimes with manual calculations, sometimes with electronic spreadsheets. There are also suggestions on how can be approached the activities proposed in the High School. Finally, it is concluded that this work can be a guideline for future studies, research and practices, so that its elaboration and conclusion were successful in the sense of giving
continuity to the formation of a teacher who teaches mathematics in Basic Education.

  • Financial Education promotes the development of personal skills, enabling greater conditions for the individual to make decisions in the financial framework. Regarding its relevance, Financial Education area has been increasingly growing, gaining space in several fields over the last years, especially in school context. Such scenario justifies this masters research conducted in Programa de Mestrado Profissional de Matemática em Rede Ampla (PROFMAT) at the Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais-CEFET-MG, that aims to address and discuss issues regarding Financial Education in Basic Education, with the objective of creating a didactic sequence that addresses financial investments theory, for students in the 9th year of Basic Education (in Brazilian system) and investigate whether this sequence contributes to the financial education of these students. This research is qualitative and the methodological procedures used were participant observation, questionnaires, audio and video recordings. The development of activities was based on a didactic sequence, elaborated within the perspective of Scholar Financial Education under the guidelines provided by the Brazilian National Strategy for Financial Education - ENEF (2011) and the Brazilian National Common Curriculum Base - BNCC (2018). Thus, the didactic sequence explores themes such as Financial Education, Financial Mathematics, the Citizen Calculator (Calculadora do Cidadão), interest rates, the Brazilian Selic rate, inflation, fixed income investments and variable income investments. The sequence was remotely performed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in a mini out-of-class course format consisting in four meetings of one-and-a-half-hour duration each. Then, we analyzed the discussions raised during the mini-course and the material collected. The analyzed data lead us to believe that the development of this sequence provided an opportunity to discuss concepts and financial aspects, promoting the students' Financial Education. Reiterating the importance of School Financial Education, we expect that this research and its results could also stimulate and assist teachers that wish to work with Financial Education in Basic School.

  • The RPG, an acronym for Roleplaying Game, is a game that mixes roleplay and a set of probability-based luck tests. The objectives of this dissertation are to explore the application of RPG in mathematics education in order to develop a system that is easy to apply in a school environment and, based on this system, a Probability manual for
Elementary School. To develop the system, the following was explored: the trend of Games in Education, Roleplay in education and the existing works with similar objectives. For the Probability manual, we explored three Brazilian syllabuses and the mathematical definition of the topics to be discussed in class.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • With the great popularity of microcomputers, smartphones and Internet access, developing methodologies that meet the needs of a generation of digital natives is a new challenge for educators. In this context, gamification can be applied to teaching and learning processes. However, making use of gamification requires much more than using games, being necessary for the teacher to understand how this tool is structured, putting him in the role of a facilitator, instead of a transmitter of knowledge. The aim of this work is to comprehend how to use and insert into teaching practices the mechanics, dynamics and aesthetics present in games. Furthermore, we propose the implementation of a game for teaching first degree polynomial equations. We present the context and dynamics of the game and schemas that specify a future implementation.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The concept of Probability is part of a society’s day-to-day, whether it is in simple situations, for instance event occurrence; or more complex circumstances, like decision-making processes that require logical thinking. Therefore, understanding probability is fundamental both in and outside the academic environment. That way, we have explored interesting and relevant ways to deal with this subject in a dynamic and playful approach, choosing to apply it on educational-biased games. Thus, the present study uses the Monty Hall Problem (MHP), greatly discussed by scholars, as a background to improve assimilation and comprehension of probability conceptions and properties. In doing so, we have developed a GeoGebra Book, made of theoretical materials involving diverse complexity levels of probability content. In addition, the digital book includes solved exercises in games, such as dice and cards, as well as applets that allow its use through adapted games and PMH expansion into other doors. The final product will serve as support material for high school students and teachers, or anyone enthusiastic about the topic. The proposed e-book connects applied probability axioms to game playing; encouraging users to foster and enhance concepts that will help them solve problems on a daily basis.

  • Considering the importance of Numerical Calculus as a mathematical tool, in this paper we study some of the main techniques for approximating roots of real functions and explore their application for teaching this subject in Basic Education (BE). After the theorization of three of the main numerical methods for calculating roots of real functions,
we explore some of their potential for application in the BE classroom. For this, besides using computer environments in the construction of the classes, we took into account skills related to computational thinking from the perspective of the NCCB (National Common Curriculum Base). Then, we analyze a selection of productions the PROFMAT (Professional Master in Mathematics in National Network), in order to investigate how this post-graduate program produces for the BE, focusing on the topic of calculus of function roots and numerical approximation techniques. Finally, we present our final product, a proposal for a Didatic Sequence, composed of lesson plans that work as skills related to computational thinking through computerized environment. We conclude that the
composite activities have relevance to bring the subject of Numerical Calculus to the BE classroom.

  • Several are the difficulties reported by teachers and students throughout the teaching-and- learning process in mathematics, particularly in what regards the content of Probability. The present dissertation has as its objective to analyze how a didactic sequence, developed through the use of Team-based learning (TBL) strategy may contribute to enhance not only teaching, but also student learning outcomes. The sequence in question, had initially been planned to be developed in remote (online) environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, in August 2021, students were allowed to partially return to school in smaller groups. Each of these groups would attend school, in person, every two weeks. After that, the nearly total return of students finally took place in September 2021. Hence, it was decided to adapt and change our initial planning and apply both the questionnaires and the didactic sequence in presential manner. In order to develop the project and the didactic sequence, an initial diagnostic questionnaire was applied, two different methodological paths were built and developed and students were subjected to a final questionnaire. The methodological path 1, involved the concepts of Sample Space, Event and Randomized Experimentation, the classic definition of Probability and the Probability of the union of two or more events. The methodological path 2, referred to the Probability of Independent Events and Conditional Probability. Both methodological paths were developed, based on TBL Teaching-and-Learning Strategy, in a class of 43 students of the 11th grade of high school, from a private school in Belo Horizonte. The data collected along the applications was registered and analyzed through a qualitative approach of interpretative base, being open-ended answers of students analyzed in a way that these would reveal relevant information regarding the students’ learning in what regards the content of Probability. These answers showed, for instance, that students apprehended the classic definition of Probability, but they also highlighted that the same students presented gaps related to contents from junior high school and from the 10th grade. It is important to emphasize that we were returning from an extended period of pandemic, what might have worsened this perception of possible learning gaps and in knowledge regarding the content of previous years. With the development of the didactic sequence, the participation and the answers from students,it was possible to notice that the teacher, as a mediator/tutor, has an important role in the construction of the students’ mathematical knowledge and that the teacher should always follow the signs of time, proposing different teaching-learning strategies in order foster the construction of learners’ mathematical knowledge, placing them as protagonists in the process, making mathematics interesting and meaningful for them.

  • In our daily lives, wherever we look, we find applications of Mathematics. However, this is not always easily noticed by everyone. This work produced a booklet intended to show the application of Mathematical methods and techniques to calculation of materials in Civil Construction. We offer straightforward solutions to problems that individuals may encounter in their lives, whether working in construction or planning a renovation or construction. In this approach, we present the concepts of proportion, perimeter, area and volume at high school level. We also propose digital technologies as teaching motivators for Mathematics, therefore we use the free program Sweet Home 3D, which can be used to model a building. We believe that presenting concrete and specific examples of the
application of Mathematics is a motivator that contributes to student learning.

  • This work is based on the studies of Markov Chains and Chapman-Kolmogorov Equations. To understand the text in Annexes A and B, there is a relevant review about Matrix and Probability, topics covered in the basic education level, usually in the second year of high school. After the review of those topics, it is possible to approach basic concepts of Markov Chains and their different applications. Markov Chains have numerous applications in economics, genetics, mathematical problems, and their main characteristic is that the determination of future probability does not depend on past probabilities, but it only depends on present probability. The objective of this work is to introduce the basic concepts of Markov Chains to second year high school students using an approach of Matrices and Probability that they are already familiar with, presenting them with interesting examples, instigating their curiosity, seeking to motivate them during the learning process and demonstrating how mathematics is useful, necessary and can be applied in several ways in the world around us. Finally, with the suggestion of a didactic sequence, we want teachers and students to have a rich experience and a significant learning of the basic concepts of Markov Chains and Chapman-Kolmogorov Equations after Matrices and Probability. The didactic sequence has five consecutive stages with an increasing degree of complexity, seeking to provide students with a specific, defined learning process and that they, through their abilities, reach new levels of learning.

  • The study of functions in Basic Education represents an important moment in the evolution of mathematical thinking and the development of modeling problems involving the content of functions. In order to support teachers and students in the teaching and learning process of the content of functions, as well as to bring practical applications that solidify knowledge and bring together mathematical concepts and everyday situations, this work contains a booklet for autonomous studies and video lessons for better guidance. learning development. It is expected that, with the support of teachers and textbooks, the student will be able to understand phenomena and model them. For the development of this work, we surveyed the dissertations produced within the scope of PROFMAT that deal with the teaching of functions and are intended for classes from 9th grade of Fundamental II, 1st to 3rd grade of High School and we rely on teaching strategies and learning such as flipped classroom and problem-based learning (PBL). The application must take place in the classroom, in the face-to-face model, so that it is possible to recover important content in the development of mathematics teaching, especially considering the gaps perceived in the post-COVID-19 pandemic period.

  • Many young people, after graduating from high school, will deal with loans and financing to pay for goods and services, such as vehicles and houses, credit cards, graduation and various courses. In these circumstances, this public lacks strategies that help them to decide on the acquisition of these, and other items, in a conscious and responsible manner. This scenario justifies the presentation of this research whose objective is to promote learning about Amortization Systems for High School students, applied to situations of loans and/or financing, in the context of Financial Education, a mandatory transversal theme by the BNCC (2018). Such learning permeates through mathematical knowledge of this segment, namely, “Interest” and “Progressions”. In this dissertation, we present the development of the research, conducted in the light of Didactic Engineering, and the construction of an educational product (book) developed throughout the work, whose proposal is to assist teachers in teaching the most usual Amortization Systems: the PRICE Table and the SAC System. We present the organization of the book and the report of its applications in two private schools in Belo Horizonte – MG, carried out in classes of first and third years of High School, with the intention of adapting the proposed didactic situations. The validation of the material was based on analyzes supported by the evolution of the learning objectives of Bloom's Taxonomy and also in the development of mathematical competences at BNCC. Finally, the dissertation ends with the expectation of presenting to teachers and researchers in Mathematics, and related areas, an educational product of great value in promoting Financial Education for teachers and students, providing knowledge and learning that influence the behavior of a new generation of consumers.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This master's thesis proposes a discussion on Financial Education in High School. Considering the high indebtedness rate of the Brazilian population and the absence of effective public policies to change this scenario, it is mandatory to take actions that promote a discussion of the theme in basic education throughout the country, allowing students, to have a healthy, balanced and responsible relationship in relation to money in their adult life, in the exercise of citizenship. This work aims to provide the teacher with a support material to be implemented in High School and promote discussions and learning about themes related to Financial Education, which started in Elementary School. In order to achieve this objective, two didactic sequences have been created for high school students who had previously acquired knowledge about Financial Mathematics, an essential content in the search for student's success in the activities proposed in those sequences. This work
presents both qualitative and quantitative aspects, with descriptive characteristics. The theoretical framework of this research is based on official documents for Basic Education, especially Brazil's National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), which brings Financial Education as an integrating theme between the areas of knowledge. Besides the BNCC, it also relies on works carried out by Schneider (2008), Babinski (2017) and Zabala (1998).
The students participating in this research have already ventured into conservative investments such as savings and others. However, they still lack nancial planning. Changes in scenarios like this so alarming scenario of indebtedness of the population will only be effective if we approach knowledge and propose discussions about Financial Education in Basic Education, making children, adolescents and young adults better able to understand
value of money, saving, investing and planning their expenses.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • This dissertation aims at contributing to the teacher's role, presenting activities on the study of the maximums and minimums of functions and on Newton's Binomial, involving a different approach from that presented in textbooks. For the development and elaboration of activities, we used active learning methodologies as a methodological reference, in particular the Flipped Classroom, collaborative work, the use of technologies and the application of the History of Mathematics as a structuring axis, in order to consolidate the content. The activities were applied in classes of the 2nd and 3rd grades of High School in two private schools in Belo Horizonte and the data collected during the application were analyzed using a qualitative approach of an interpretative nature and took into account the students' posture and responses, their behaviors and their discursive productions throughout the development of the activities. In addition to the activities, we present discussions and investigations that show Mathematics as an evolving science, in two speci c moments of History. The rst, with Pierre de Fermat and the birth of Calculus, and the second with Sir Isaac Newton and the expansion of his binomial. At both times, we seek to apply methods, the activities developed enable a greater involvement of the students, encouraging the development of research and study skills, possibilities of interactions between students-Mathematics-teachers, in addition to presenting a more engaging and contextualized Mathematics.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • In this paper we intend to highlight the importance of understanding students and teachers of elementary school about the test and demonstration in Euclidean Geometry. For this, we developed a didactic material to support the teacher, presenting three exploratory activity scripts, with and without the use of computational resources, so that students, in Geometry classes, can explore and discuss three geometric properties: angles formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal, the Tales Theorem and the Pythagorean Theorem. Such exploratory activities were developed in such a way that it is possible to create and test conjectures with the objective of leading the student to verify their veracity / falsity, without the rigor of a formal demonstration, based on questions directed in which the students can exercise their mathematical arguments. The theoretical framework of this research is based on works that highlight the importance of demonstration in Geometry for Mathematics and for its teaching, such as: Balacheff (1987), Villiers (2001), Ferreira (2016), Gazire (2000) and Garbi (2010). For the design of the activities, we used some assumptions of investigative and exploratory activities. We also present a descriptive analysis of the remote application of one of the activities for 31 students in an 8th grade class of elementary school. Data collection was carried out by a questionnaire management application and a conversation with students in a synchronous class. With the aid of computational resources, students were able to explore a GeoGebra applet and were directed, through questioning the activity, to develop conjectures and prove the Pythagorean Theorem. Although conjectures are often based on visual perception, several students have produced viable conjectures and some have provided a good justification for their conclusions. We hope that the material developed and the teaching experience portrayed can serve as a reference for teachers who work in elementary school and are interested in working on mathematical demonstrations.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The performance of brazilian students in the editions of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) until 2018, with a focus on Mathematics, showed that they obtained a grade below the international average. Based on the result obtained in PISA of 2012, a text presented by the Brazilian Mathematical Society raised, among others, the following question to be answered by teachers: "Should my teaching emphasize mathematical concepts or how those concepts are applied in the real world?" As an answer, the teaching of mathematics in its applied form was encouraged, instead of just in its pure form. Among the areas of Mathematics education included in the basic education plan, it was decided, then, to present an application of Analytical Geometry and Linear Algebra. The purpose of this work is an application of matrix algebraic groups in Robotics, through a programming environment and a robot simulator, as an alternative and viable material for the teaching-learning of Mathematics. Among the possible activities, this work deals with the Matrix Groups Applied on Forward Kinematics of a robotic arm, which is the description of the positioning and orientation of the end-effector, that is last element of this equipment, with information on the location of its base, the size of its links and the position of its joints. The matrix groups was applied through the notation presented by Denavit and Hartenberg. As final product, some activities that can be applied in the school environment are presented. As an incentive to apply the methods suggested by this work, free programming and robotics simulation tools were used.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • Data from the Ministry of Education, according to PISA exam in 2018, point out that Brazilian students have low proficiency when asked to solve problems by using mathematical tools. Education professionals, who are dedicated to teaching mathematical tools, must be committed to train their students by practicing activities that work with research, thinking and critical analyses to solve problems linked to the daily demands of current and future generations of the professionals and citizens. It is necessary to prepare the learner to meet the requirements of a globalized reality whose clear information, based on reliable data, are opportune ways to knowledge dissemination. Based on a bibliographic research, propositions of mathematical models and by using a data analysis software widely accessible to society, this work proposes an alternative approach to the teaching of Descriptive Statistics and Probability, aiming to help Basic Education teachers to develop teaching strategies by contextualization, investigation and interdisciplinarity, using a real situation database as a source. This work aimed to select, investigate, and describe statistically relevant data such as demographic census, immunization against measles, cases registered of measles and dengue infections, to use the mathematical modeling technique, based on the methodology of the didactic sequence as an auxiliary teaching tool. For each of these four modeled databases, sequential analyses were developed for improving the understanding and subsequently description of the data set by means of graphs, tables, and arguments based on probabilistic calculations. The constructions mentioned were elaborated by using Excel software, since it is a tool of easy manipulation by the user. However, all activity can also be implemented in free software such as Openoffice, Libreoffice, Software R, among others. The purpose is to provide the student with better understanding of Science which deals with the analysis and interpretation of information in order to promote meaningful learning of the definitions of statistics and the probability theory. The proposal activity was not implemented due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the consequent interruption of face-to-face classes. Nevertheless, it becomes a study that makes possible to establish a methodology that allows the user to transform a large volume of data into organized, informative, and useful material for critical analyses under different scientific, technological, and social aspects.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The mathematical content taught in Basic Education is greatly in uenced by external
evaluations that students perform at the end of High School, mainly the National High
School Exam. Thus, content that is not in National High School Exam has been relegated
by schools and teachers. One of the contents relegated, in the author's experience, is
Matrix Algebra, content that has assumed great importance today. The use of matrices
to perform geometric transformations and to solve linear systems are two examples of
this importance. Geometric transformations through matrices have been widely used in
the movement of robotic arms and in computer graphics, while linear systems are able
to model different situations, both in Mathematics itself and in other areas of knowledge.
On the other hand, Matrix Algebra is an abstract content and difficult to contextualize
due to the large number of operations that are necessary to represent a single problem
situation. Thus, this dissertation aims to present contextualized activities for teaching
Matrix Algebra with use of technological resources. For the construction of these activities,
we used the concept of computational thinking and investigative scenarios. Through a
bibliographic analysis, we found that computational thinking has many intersections with
Mathematics and, combined with investigative approach, it was possible to develop three
activities that have an empirical profile and put the student in a more active position
in their learning process. We believe that activities with this scope, promote more than
contextualized teaching, promote the creative and investigative spirit, as well as a re ection
on how mathematics teaching needs to connect with reality and promote meaningful
    education.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The present dissertation presents some improvements made in mathematical activities associated with the studies of Geometry developed by students of the final stages of Elementary School. These improvement were supported by some perspectives in Education Mathematics and Didactic Sequences. Throughout the text, activities are presented on the text in your initial format followed by respective reformulated version. Although the current world mundial scenario made impossible for students to realize these activities. I understand that these improvements have potential to expand the horizons of teaching and learning process in Geometry, with emphasis on the perception that the various discussions related to academic production focused on teaching, have connection with classroom practice.

  • Resumen Espectáculo
  • The present work made a start on the restless concerns of the researcher professor with his activities as a Calculus teacher as well as a High School teacher. Bothered by the high failure and dropout rates in Calculus classes, he started to reflect what could be done in Basic Education and what could minimize these difficulties. The research was developed with High School freshmen and the objective was to analyse the development of teaching real functions of a real variable through a didactic sequence where the variational character of the functions stands out in contrast to the current static approach in the field of set theory. It is a qualitative research and the methodological procedures used were participant observation, questionnaires and documentary analysis. The development of the activities was supported by the GeoGebra software and it was found that this tool favored the visualization of the function graphs and helped the student develop an intuition of the variational character of the functions, enabling a dynamic approach to this content that is often overlooked. We must highlight here the importance of continuing research on this topic, given its relevance in Basic Education, in order to establish a dialogue with the Higher Education stage, minimizing the impacts of the transition between levels of education and promoting a better interpretation of the world.
