SUMMARY:

The research is delineated from the analysis of the dance shows “1717”, “E vez que ele
mesmo era...”, “Me brega, baile!” and “Por um fio” to also investigate a language that
emerges to the scene: contemporary ballroom dance. This research will have the
cartography as a methodology to follow processes, trace lines, map territories and allow
escape routes. All involved in the invention not only the mentioned dance shows, but also
in the entanglement of the research itself. The objective is to map these contemporary
Brazilian ballroom dance performances through the imagery analysis of their movements
to investigate the construction of texts for two in the transposition of narratives to the
scene. The territories and paths pointed out by me are related to my cartographic
experience, therefore, as specific objectives, it is intended to trace territories from the
artistic productions that use contemporary ballroom dance and narratives for their scenic
creation; analyze how these narratives are translated into choreographic language and
map how this language, contemporary ballroom dance, is scenically configured. The
central problem of this research is to unravel how texts for two are born in the
transposition of narratives to the choreographic language in contemporary Brazilian
ballroom dance shows. How the images of the analyzed shows reveal their dramaturgy
and how contemporary ballroom dancing is restlessness and transgression to trace bodytextualized movements on stage.
