Body of author: A queer and performative reading of Vaga carne, by Grace Passô
Authorship. Performative theater. Grace Passô. Queer theory. Body.
History has demonstrated that authorship is considered as a mere discursive function, actualized by reading. However, considering the performances of dissident bodies, the body acquires discursive materiality and shakes that relationship. Thus, this research project proposes to present the steps to verify how such an issue appears and unfolds in Vaga carne, by Grace Passô, a solo written and performed by the actress from Minas Gerais. We base our arguments on the studies about performative language by Judith Butler and the performative theater by Josette Féral, supported algo by Paul Zumthor when it comes to performance. In addition, authorship is discussed using as reference Michel Foucault and Roland Barthes, as well as their commentators. The results expected are to find marks that demonstrate that there is a relationship between the author’s dissident body and her work.
