SUMMARY:

Publishing production in Brazil dates back to the arrival of the Portuguese royal family in 1808, which precipitated the founding of the Impressão Régia do Rio de Janeiro, the first publishing house officially operating on Brazilian soil. This thesis focuses on the business books published in the country from that time until 2020. The following were analyzed: the publishing production in this period, the subjects and themes of the books, the authors, the origin of the titles - if national or foreign -, the publishers (organizations), the editors, the translators, and the public and private institutions that were prominent in the production, distribution or dissemination of the business books printed in Brazil.
