SUMMARY:

This paper aims to offer a contribution of reflection, pointing out data and systematizing aspects
related to the phenomenon of social networks, with the objective of analyzing the blog of the
former Rio de Janeiro councilwoman Marielle Franco, a platform created in 2017, at the
beginning of her term in the city council. This digital space addresses activism in racial and
gender issues as a tool to respond to prejudice, racism, and homophobia, marked by selfdiscourses and accounts. Thus, the research starts from the hypothesis that, in a scenario of
mediatization granted by social networks, they end up acting as a means for a plurality of
narratives in favor of racial and gender struggles to be made visible in the public sphere, seeking
to respond to their actions in the scope of feminist activism, as well as racial and homophobia
issues, revealing the existence of a prejudiced gap in Brazil, whose discourse is still masked
with social minorities in the so-called social democracy. It is an exploratory and bibliographic
research with the objective of addressing the contexts, means, and modes of production of the
mentioned blog, as well as the theoretical bases of Discourse Analysis through dialogues with
various authors, having as the guiding element the construction of blogs and how their use
contributes to the constitution and reaffirmation of identities. Thus, the work was structured in
two groups of theoretical references: authors who encompass reflections on the web,
cyberspace, mediativism, and blogs; as well as researchers belonging to FDA (French Discourse
Analysis). Regarding the first group, dialogues with Felice (2008) were proposed, whose work
addresses virtual communication networks and how they act publicly to enable new forms of
social participation; Castells (2003) was chosen for addressing historical aspects pertaining to
the internet and its media character; Nunes (2011) for highlighting numerical aspects regarding
the use of the internet among Brazilians and the impact of the computer network on society;
Malini and Autoun (2013) addressing the fundamental characteristics of internet usage, as well
as its requirements; in addition to Recuero (2009), whose work translates the actions of internet
users by providing possible tools for exploring the constituents present in discourses. Regarding
autobiographical studies, the theoretical reflections of Arfuch (2010) were adopted, which
address biographical construction issues and how this account is carried out; as well as
Charaudeau (2001), regarding media discourse and the construction of the event, definitions of
discourse with Bakhtin (2003) and relevant concepts to the theme, such as reported speech.
Dialogues were also established with the theorizations of Maingueneau (2020) on the concept of
ethos, logos, and pathos. With regard to discursive emotions, it was possible to identify the
presence of emotions such as indignation, revolt, and hope in the discourses present in the blog.
These emotions reflect the mobilization and engagement of readers and former councilwoman
Marielle Franco herself in the struggles for racial and gender equality. The theoretical
framework of Amossy's work (2011) was also highlighted, whose path postulates its
contributions in the field of memory studies and autobiographies, arguing that, in contemporary
times, self-narratives, in digital tools, can be influenced by technological conditioning through
forms of interaction; Paveau (2017) and her studies on Digital Discourse Analysis and the
influence of technodiscourses on interactivity, as well as their repercussion in the processes of
meaning construction in digital media. In addition to the aforementioned, Lúcia Santaella
(2003), Raquel Recuero (2003), Cristiane Dias (2008), Carolyn Miller (2004), Orlandi (1996),
Amaral, Recuero, and Montardo (2008), among others, were adopted, whose contributions were
essential for this research.
