SUMMARY:

The present work aims to analyze interviews with several actors who were or are part of várzea’s football in Belo Horizonte and the metropolitan region. For this, the theory of French Discourse Analysis will be used, which will address the socio-discursive imaginaries that pass through the speeches of the various interviewees. Aspects of similarities and differences, as well as the issue of ethos, will be analyzed and demonstrated based on the analysis of the speeches of these actors, who belong to different segments within várzea’s football. They are players, fans, referees, managers, coaches, street vendors, in whose life narratives várzea’s football is present as an important leisure and aggregating sporting element, which at the same time establishes the union and sharing of desires, frustrations, joys, varied feelings. With this research, it is expected to collect relevant data so that the government understands the importance of várzea’s football in communities in the different regions of Belo Horizonte and can, from there, make greater investments and create spaces for leisure and sporting activities.
