THE SPECTACLE EXPERIENCE“MEMORIES OF AN OLD ENGINEER”:the video mapping at the national monument Engenho São Jorge dos Erasmos
Telematic poetics. Expanded Cinema. Videomapping. Heritage. Memory.
Beginning from a historical introduction of the National Monument São Jorge dos Erasmos in Santos and reviewing concepts of memory, it´s shown how the edition of a videomapping show occurred in a national monument and its implications for the heritage and to our perception of it. It is pointed out its multifaceted character while being a historical object and at the same time a projection screen of contents related to itself. The main elements that compose the narrative speech were ordered with the help of Peircean Semiotics as postulated by Lucia Santaella in “Matrizes da Linguagem”. It is discussed the symbology of the unique format of the screen with the help of Walter Benjamin´s essays on the reproduction in art and his concept of History, as well as an idea of anachronism in Art, as worked by Georges Didi-Huberman. Editing concepts are brought here to describe the creation process of the show from a technological evolution perspective. The monument is presented as an anachronic critical image, able to modify the curse of facts by making a historical presentation.
